At Breakwater Therapy, we believe everyone deserves a place where they can feel safe, supported, and understood through life's challenges. A breakwater is a protective structure built along the coast to reduce the force of powerful waves, creating calmer waters where boats can find safety and stability. While it doesn't stop the storms from coming, it provides protection, resilience, and space to navigate them. Therapy serves a similar purpose. Life will always bring challenges, but with the right support, those challenges become more manageable, allowing individuals and families to build confidence, develop new skills, and move forward with greater strength.

Breakwater Therapy is a group practice dedicated to supporting children, teens, young adults, parents, and families. We recognize that every stage of development brings unique joys, challenges, and transitions. Whether a child is learning to manage big emotions, a teenager is navigating identity and relationships, a young adult is adjusting to increased independence, or parents are seeking guidance through difficult seasons, our goal is to provide thoughtful, evidence-based care tailored to each individual's needs.

Our therapeutic approach is relational, strengths-based, and individualized. We believe that the relationship between therapist and client is one of the most important parts of the healing process. By creating a genuine, trusting connection, we help clients feel empowered to explore challenges, build resilience, and create meaningful change. Depending on each person's needs, treatment may incorporate experiential techniques, play-based interventions, cognitive and behavioral strategies, and family collaboration.

We also recognize that meaningful progress often extends beyond the therapy office. That's why we value close collaboration with parents, schools, psychiatrists, pediatricians, and other professionals involved in a child's care.

At Breakwater Therapy, our hope is that every person who walks through our doors finds a place where they feel accepted, supported, and equipped to weather life's storms with greater confidence. We are honored to walk alongside our clients and families as they discover their strengths, deepen connections, and create lasting change.

Our Team

Kelsey Conroy, LICSW

I am a clinical social worker with extensive experience working with children, adolescents, young adults, and parents. Over the past 15 years, I have supported these populations in diverse settings, including pediatric hospitals, therapeutic boarding schools, boarding schools with international students, and colleges where I have helped young adults navigate the complexities of transition. Currently, I serve as the Dean of Residential Students at The Fessenden School in West Newton, MA. In this role, I am a member of the Student Support Team and advisor to middle school students from across the country and around the world, helping them address their unique developmental needs.

My approach integrates relational, experiential, and strength-based theories, with play therapy incorporated when appropriate. I believe the relationship between clinician and client is one of the most important elements of the therapeutic process. I am deeply committed to normalizing mental health challenges and recognizing the difficulty of finding the right support.
